What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal data the Gezeri app and the gezeri.com website process, why we process it, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

The Gezeri app

What we do not collect

The app does not require account registration. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, payment details, or any contact details through the app. The app does not request access to your GPS location or precise location data. Bookmarks you save are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

What we do process

When you use the Gezeri app, we process limited technical data and online identifiers through two third-party services operated by Google LLC.

App analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how people use the Gezeri app. This helps us improve the app, fix issues, understand which content is useful, and make editorial decisions.

Firebase Analytics may collect app usage events, session information, approximate location derived from network data, device and operating system information, app version, language, and technical identifiers such as an app-instance ID and Firebase installation ID. We have disabled mobile advertising identifier collection (Android Advertising ID and Apple IDFA) for Gezeri. We do not enable Google Signals, cross-device tracking, remarketing, or ads personalisation. Analytics data is used only for aggregate statistical purposes to improve the app and is not used to identify, track, or profile individual users.

You can turn off analytics collection at any time in the app. Go to the Saved tab and scroll to the Settings section. Turning analytics off disables Firebase Analytics collection on your device immediately and persists across app restarts. A privacy notice explaining analytics use and the analytics toggle is also displayed during first launch.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix crashes and stability issues in the app. Crash reports may include crash stack traces, Firebase installation IDs, Crashlytics installation UUIDs, device model, operating system version, app version, crash time, app state, and other technical diagnostics. We do not intentionally include bookmarked content or personal notes in crash reports. We do not set custom user IDs in Crashlytics and we do not use Crashlytics to identify individual users.

Local storage

The app stores a local cache of editorial content on your device using Hive, a local key-value store. This cache contains only content we publish — destination guides, articles, Quick Look items, and phrasebook entries. It does not contain personal data. Saved bookmarks are stored separately using your device’s SharedPreferences storage and remain on your device only.

Lawful basis

App analytics: We process Firebase Analytics data on the basis of legitimate interests under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Our legitimate interest is in understanding how the app is used in order to improve it. The data is technical and aggregated, advertising identifiers are disabled, and you can opt out at any time in the app settings.

For PECR purposes, we rely on the statistical purposes exception for Firebase Analytics. Analytics are used only to produce aggregate statistical information about how the app is used, with a view to improving the service. We do not use analytics to identify users, track users across services, profile users, personalise advertising, or make decisions about individual users. You can object at any time by turning analytics off in the app.

Crash reporting: We process Firebase Crashlytics data on the basis of legitimate interests under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Our legitimate interest is to detect, diagnose, and fix technical faults and to maintain the security and stability of the app. For PECR purposes, crash reporting is used only to detect, diagnose, and fix technical faults and to maintain app stability. It is not used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or user tracking.

We have carried out and documented a Legitimate Interests Assessment covering purpose, necessity, and balancing. This is available on request at hello@gezeri.com.

How long we keep app data

Firebase Analytics: Event-level data is retained for 2 months, the shortest available retention period in our Google Analytics property. We use this data only where necessary to produce aggregate statistical reports about app usage. We do not use user-level analytics, audiences, advertising features, profiling, or individual-level reporting. Aggregated reports may remain available after event-level data is deleted.

Firebase Crashlytics: Crash stack traces, extracted minidump data, and associated identifiers including Crashlytics installation UUIDs and Firebase installation IDs are retained for 90 days before deletion begins from live and backup systems.

Local device storage: The Hive content cache and bookmark data remain on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data. We have no access to this data.

International transfers

Google LLC and its affiliates may process Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards including Google’s Data Processing and Security Terms, applicable transfer mechanisms under UK GDPR, and Google’s certification under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Who we share data with

We share app analytics and crash data with Google LLC as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement. Google processes this data on our behalf to provide Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, in accordance with Google’s Data Processing and Security Terms and our Firebase configuration. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or any other third party.

The gezeri.com website is a landing page hosted on Hostinger. Standard web server logs may include IP addresses, browser information, device information, and pages viewed. These logs are retained by the hosting provider for security and operational purposes.

Website analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 on the gezeri.com website to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them via the cookie banner. We do not use website analytics for advertising, remarketing, or profiling. We rely on consent as the lawful basis for website analytics under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR.

Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga and _ga_PPHVTZRK93) are set for approximately 2 years after consent. Google LLC processes this data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement, with the same international transfer safeguards described above.

You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the cookie settings icon on the website. Withdrawing consent stops future data collection but does not affect data already collected.

We have enabled Google Consent Mode, which allows GA4 to use modelled aggregate data for visitors who decline analytics cookies. This modelled data does not involve setting cookies on your device.

The website does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, third-party embeds, contact forms, or newsletter sign-ups.

The website uses cookies. See our separate Cookie Policy at gezeri.com/cookies for full details.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights in relation to personal data we hold about you:

Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.

Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.

Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.

Right to object — you have the right to object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on legitimate interests for analytics, you can exercise this right by turning off analytics in the app settings (Saved tab, Settings section, Analytics toggle) or by emailing hello@gezeri.com. We will stop that processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue.

Right to data portability — where this right applies (generally where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means).

Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on consent as a lawful basis (we do not currently do so for the app).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@gezeri.com. We will respond within one calendar month.

Data protection complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at hello@gezeri.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay.

If you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including limiting access to Firebase and analytics tools to authorised personnel only.

Children

Gezeri is a travel app intended for a general adult audience planning trips to Azerbaijan. It is not designed for or directed at children. We do not knowingly collect names, contact details, precise location, or account information from any user.

We have considered whether the app is likely to be accessed by children and consider it unlikely given the nature and subject matter of the service. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data to us, or that our analytics configuration creates risks for child users, we will take appropriate steps to delete or limit that data. Contact us at hello@gezeri.com if you have a concern.

App store privacy declarations

Our Apple App Privacy and Google Play Data Safety declarations reflect the actual data collected by the Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics SDKs as configured for this app, consistent with this policy. Advertising identifier collection is disabled. Google Signals is disabled.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention, such as through an in-app notice or a notice on the website. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
